SELL YOUR CHAMETZ
Deadline: Wednesday, April 5 by 8:30 am
No leaven shall be seen or found in your possession during Passover.
- Deuteronomy 16:4
Much as we may try to eat up our chametz before Passover, it's not really an achievable task. The Rabbis introduced the practice of “selling” chametz to a non-Jew for Passover. You can authorize Rabbi Werbow to do this by filling out the form below.
READ SHIR HA'SHIRIM
Shabbat Services on Saturday, April 8
Shir Ha'Shirim 4:15
Song of Songs (“Shir Hashirim”) is a poetic conversations between lovers, usually seen as a metaphor for the loving relationship between God and the Jewish people. It is read each year during the Shabbat that falls during Passover.
Deadline: Tuesday, April 4 by 6:00 pm
It is incumbent upon all of us to assure that everyone in our midst can provide the necessary food for a Passover Seder and for the general holiday observance. With the approach of spring and Passover, it has long been the tradition of congregations to collect Maot Hitin (literally wheat money), which is used to help poor Jews prepare for Passover, the great festival of liberation.
Please contribute via this form or by check marked Rabbi's Discretionary Fund - Maot Hitin so we have adequate funds to help the many Jews who will be turning to us prior to Passover. Your generosity will enrich other Jewish families physically and spiritually, as they celebrate this holiday of freedom.
Chag Sameach from all of us at Tifereth Israel.
Sincerely,
Rabbi Michael Werbow
PASSOVER FOOD DELIVERIES
Sponsored by the Social Action Committee
Sunday, April 2, 9:00 am
Each year, TI members deliver food baskets for Passover and Rosh Hashanah to less fortunate Jewish families and individuals in the community. This simple effort permits many to celebrate the Holidays with joy and provides them with traditional foods that are an integral part of the chaggim.
This Passover, in conjunction with B'nai B'rith’s Project H.O.P.E. and the Jewish Social Services Agency, TI will be assigned fifty to seventy packages and volunteers will be needed to deliver them to residences of identified individuals.
Pick-up your Pesach wine at TI:
Thursday, March 30 from 1:00 pm-5:00 pm
Friday, March 31 from 10:00 am–5:00 pm
Sunday, April 2 from 9:30 am–12:30 pm
(Wine sales are closed.)
