Shalem | Judaism and Human Rights

Saturday, February 6th
Kiddush after Services, and Shalem at 1:15 p.m.

We welcome TI member Rabbi Charles Feinberg

Rabbi Feinberg will discuss slavery in ancient and modern times. He will speak about how the African American community has been affected by the war on drugs. He will discuss the nature of punishment in some of our different prison systems and whether we as a society believe that there can be reconciliation and healing with those who have committed serious crimes. He will use the words of the Torah Reading (Parashat Mishpatim) and the Haftarah (Jeremiah) as a springboard for discussion.

Charles M. Feinberg has been a rabbi for over 42 years. He has served Conservative Congregations in Madison, WI; Poughkeepsie, NY; Vancouver, BC; and Washington, DC. Recently retired from the pulpit rabbinate, Charles is now the executive director of Interfaith Action for Human Rights. He and his wife Krayna are new TI members, and they have three grown children, one son-in-law, and one granddaughter.
