Helping Hands

TI members stand ready to provide meals, rides, and assistance with errands on a short-term basis for those in need because of new babies, illness or injury.  We support each other through life events - parenting, caring for aging parents, as well as losing a loved one.

Helping Hands sends out the Good News and Sad News announcements to the congregation when a new child or grandchild is added to the community or when a member of the congregation or a congregant's family member dies. Contact Susan Catler when there has been a birth or a death to provide information for the notice. This can also start the process of having Helping Hands provide assistance. For babies, this is often creating or publicizing a signup sheet to organize meals for new parents or to circulate information about a bris or baby naming. For deaths of members, this can include organizing volunteer shomrim and providing a meal of condolence. For deaths of members and family members, Helping Hands can organize meals for the family during shiva, provide for food for those visiting the mourners, and arrange for signups and other logistical support for virtual or in person shiva minyanim.

If you would like the kinds of support listed above, or other assistance, contact Susan Catler and describe your needs. Please provide whatever details you feel comfortable sharing. This will help her find appropriate support for you.

If you want to volunteer, go to Lotsa Helping Hands. Once you have signed up, you will be alerted when someone needs assistance. You will be able to see the schedule and select a good time to volunteer. Here are some examples of other assistance you might provide:

• Cooking meals for a family with a new baby or with other needs
• Providing a ride to a service or event at TI
• Picking up groceries for a home bound congregant
• Visiting a congregant in need of some company
