The Mollie L. Berch library, with upwards of 5,000 volumes, plays a major role in the synagogue’s efforts to help people engage Jewishly.

Our collection is particularly strong in the areas of

  • Children’s books
  • Books for young adults
  • Women’s studies
  • Biographies and memoirs
  • Bible commentary
  • Fiction, especially modern Jewish fiction, including Israeli novels and short stories, in English

We also have good holdings in

  • History, with some excellent holdings pertaining to the 30's and the 60's
  • The Holocaust
  • Israel, prayer, and other aspects of Jewish thought

We have a number of more narrow collections

  • Sephardi world
  • Sports
  • Jewish art and cookbooks

Other holdings

The library does have the Encyclopaedia Judaica, second edition.

We do not, however, carry books in Yiddish or Hebrew, nor do we have archival material.

Library is open all the time, to all TI members, inclduing on Shabbos

Unlike some large synagogue libraries, ours is not locked. Any member of TI may check out a book, and we have provisions for doing this on Shabbos. Most of our holdings can be found in the TI Library Catalog.
